2008 NNYCR-JCI Istanbul Crossroads Short Film Festival

3rd Annual NNYCR- JCI Istanbul Crossroads 2008 is a short film festival that aims to create global awareness on the issues surrounding the experiences of immigrants and their identity in their adopted homelands by supporting short film makers in the form of a film contest and festival. It is organized by JCI Istanbul, a non-profit organization, affiliated to Junior Chamber International, recognized as a partner organization for Global and Continental Initiatives by UN and various other institutions including Council of Europe and EuroChambers.
When it was organized for the first time in 2006, the Festival received a tremendous interest from a variety of filmmakers all over the world, and the award winners had the opportunity to reach an international audience with premiers in Istanbul – CRR, and New York, Tribeca Cinemas, and their films showcased in various university campuses.

Junior Chamber International (or JCI) is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with nearly a quarter of a million members and millions of alumni. It's an organization in which leaders meet, learn and grow. A member chapter Junior Chamber International Istanbul (or JCI Istanbul) as our sponsor and overseas project partner will announce and promote the NNYCR-JCI Istanbul Crossroads Short Film Festival to all member chapters. We will also provide links to all participant JCI chapters. Our common mission with Junior Chamber International Istanbul is "to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunities for young people to develop their leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship necessary to create positive change."
We hope to bring together all peoples of different cultures in the promotion of lasting peace through "thinking globally and acting locally". We hope to have your city and country participating in this "Meeting of the Cultures" project. 2007 has been a great year for NNYCR. Our books and international film festival are winning top awards from JCI and receiving wider international recognition and support. Thanks to the work of many dedicated volunteers and the shining leadership of our co-founder and prize-winning author, Vedat Akman, NNYCR is making a difference for people and the communities we live in.
Global Immigrant Stories also won "Best Publication Award"
NNYCR Global Immigrant Stories book won Best Publication Award in JCI European Congress Maastricht 2007 at the world famous MECC Congress Centre.
JCI is recognized as a partner organization for Global and Continental Initiatives by UN and various other institutions including Council of Europe and EuroChambers.
Maastricht hosted the European Congress of JCI (Junior Chamber International) from 13 to 17 June 2007. About 2,500 entrepreneurs and (potential) top managers from all over Europe attended an interesting program, featuring an abundance of key note speaches, trainings, seminars, workshops and meetings during this congress. The dynamic meeting point of the congress was the MECC Congress Centre. The Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre (MECC) is an ultramodern, dynamic organisation that organises and provides accommodation for fairs, conferences, trade-fairs, corporate gala’s and major cultural and sporting events. The European Congress is organised by the five South-Limburgian JCI-LOMs. It forms a part of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty: ‘Maastricht Celebrates Europe 2007’.
